Thanks for trying Tony, I've put a block on him bidding again but don't know what his maximum bid is this time, I just don't understand what he's up too .
Cheers

Cranko, just to fill you in the leading bidder is a OZ seller called clocksngifts.
He is the biggest Mamod and other steam seller in OZ. Also a agent for Jensen engines.
I have bought a Jensen from him, but that was ok, brand new, and still factory sealed.
But otherwise he sells repainted engines. That's ok, but not sure about the paint being heatproof.
Although as Rog kindly pointed out elsewhere (which I nearly very bought a while back), he has a Blue based Jensen workshop, which has been restored, even though it isn't stated.
Very misleading, as these are older than varnished base ones, and rarer. So it was more than likely stain based, just painted.
If not, and was originally blue, then it's a dam shame
Jsut wondering why he is bidding on Chris's engine, as it's already been done up, with heatrpoof paint _________________

well we bought our first engine from him and have fired it several times and it still as shiny as new so he uses heatproof paint thats for sure he also uses hi-temp clear lacquer on the boilers as well and it hasnt burnt off yet. so as far as were concerned he use high temp paint. we payed too much for it but we were newbies and dint know any beter

Yes I think thats it G-J.
His shinys appeal to newbies who pay high prices for them but I have no issue with that and from what I hear his work is good too its just that some of his descriptions may lead the buyer into believing the are buying an original engine when they aren't. But he has got a lot better than he was with his decriptions but that still have room for improvement.
But we can all say what we want and it won't matter as he does seem to able able to get hold of a lot of engines and he does get the high prices for them. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm

Not a bad price in the end. Shame its off to him though, wonder what he'll do with it? Surely not repaint it? _________________ Solid Fuel tablets explode
