Say I'm about to set out with my new model railway (sadly I think it'll be in a years time!), they don't just send me an invite becuase they presume I have a model railway! It's a new layout, that no ones ever heared of, how do they know it exsisits? You've got to ask or you'll go nowhere!

No, I don't have a working portable layout (yet), I was just using it as an example to demonstrate that you have to ask.

Quite right, Although Colin Gregory at Merstham knows me, he had no idea I had built a layout and would be happy to exhibit, so unless he is a clairvoyant he could not possibly have sent me an invite without me asking him!!

If a show only allows the layouts it is familiar with, it will only ever get new and original layouts from its own members. End result a show full of layouts everybody has seen before.

Just to say, I offered to display my tram layout at an expo, and the offer was jumped on.

BREAKING NEWS....  I AM IN AS AN EXHIBITOR IN THE GDSF 2008

However there is a catch,    due to space limitations but mainly  H&S fears about lighting up meths in the marquee, at present it is on the understanding that the exhibit is to be static.

Nevertheless, I will take the entire layout, and I will do my utmost to convince them that it is all perfectly safe to run.

If I can talk my way in to the one and only 40th Aniversery GDSF, then I sure as hell can be convincing to the most sceptical H&S Nazi.

Again, if you do not try, you do not get!!

yes well when you go to the show be sure to point out that the electrical layouts could short and cause a fire so they cant run them and that the door might get shut on someone so they'll have to go  the list goes on and on people we live in such a dangerous world we are lucky to have health and safety people to protect us from the scary world

In 2 weeks time I have out OH&S manager flying in to show us all the extra paper work we should be filling out before we start every job.
I'm sure we have a JSA somewhere for how to log into our PC.
