Nice work! You could make the chuck moveable by attatching it to a rig like this...


It is a pain to post images on here!

It works by having a pulley - used as a wheel - slide back and forth while sandwhiched between two meccano pieces (or rods).
Sorry if it isn't terribly clear what I am talking about.

Thanks for this!

I was unable to see your pic in the post, but cut and pasted the link and saw your sketch - very creative!

As of late I have been doing very little meccano (or steam in general) due to an ongoing construction project at my house - gutted and renoing the entire basement  (1200 sq ft) but when I finally have a place that's not ankle deep in sawdust, wire ends and drywall dust, I'll give this a go!
