To sum up this posting........
I needed a cheap camera for posting engine vids.
I bought a "demonstration model" Praktica DVC 50 for £25.99 buy it now. Much less than I expected to pay for any suitable camera.
I added an existing 256mb SD card.
Picture size 640 x 480. QVGA. Quality, fine.
This allowed for 8 vids. Total filming time around 13mins.
Video quality playback on Windows Media Player is "perfect".
Photobucket & Utube lose quality in both video & sound.
I guess I could get longer filming time by reducing the picture quality to 320 x 240. VGA. Quality, normal.
All in all, I`m very pleased with my purchase. _________________ David.

Short videos of decent quality, then reduced to YouTube/P'bucket is all that you can ask for. I dont think that the high priced cameras produce that much better for that purpose.
Still Cameras are kind of the same thing, mucho Megapixels are nice for personal photos that you get prints made from or even enjoy on your Computer, but for the Web 600X480 is all that you need or want. Any bigger and it is a PITA for those who look at them and big files take too long to download.
Sounds like you had your head screwed on right _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |

I thought I read somewhere in a youtube faq that they recommend 320 resolution for best quality. I can't change it on my Canon (that I've ever known about anyway), so I never bothered.
My new one will do it now, but I think I'll keep shooting 640x480 because... Well, I must admit to being a subscriber to the Bigger Is Better philosophy, whatever the reality may be.
After all, you can always shrink a large picture, but only the CSI people can blow up a small one and GAIN detail
Wish I had equipment like Hollywood imagines into existence... (though I think their computer operating system would piss me off in short order...) _________________

That's great Stilldrillin, thanks for sharing
Video has come out in good quality. Well worth it.
Re viewing all pics in the account as mentioned earlier in the thread.
Log in to your PB account.
In the top right of the screen, near the search bar, you will see account options
Click on account options, then scroll down a little and you will see the option of edit my album settings
Click on that and the first option that can be changed is

Wallace.
If I haven`t said it before, I`m saying it now..... You`re a STAR.
Thank you for another tip, and all your previous guidance during my blunderings around the internet.
Gone private now.
Could you let me know if it`s working, cos nothing`s apparently changed at this end. _________________ David.

No worries at all mate.
I might actually put this tip into the steam library. I know it isn't steam, but a handy tip.
It's private mate, all done
If nothing changed for you, then maybe it was already private, but it certainly is now _________________

Thank you!
And another little question, while we`re here......
Is there a simple way of joining 2 short vids, so they play as one long one? _________________ David.

Use Windows Movie Maker
Open the program
Click on "Import video" and choose the 2 videos you want to link
Those 2 videos should show up as thumbnails
Drag them down to the bottom of the screen to the storyboard (in order of how you want them)
Go to "File"
Choose Save Movie File
Then save it to "my Computer"
Type the name you want to save it as, and it should do the rest _________________

I was actually using Movie maker to do the exact same thing, right now, as Stilldrillin asked.
It only took me 20mins to find out how to though
I kept saving it as a "project" _________________

Wallace.....
I`ve just had a lovely breakfast, served by a smiling wife.
Also you`ve given me all the computer support I need to keep me quiet & warm for the rest of this winters day.
What more could a crumbly ask for?
Many thanks, Mate.

No worries at all.
World is a funny place. You are getting served breakfast, I'm getting served dinner
You could ask Santa for a nice Pre War engine. I might give it a try tomorrow
Anyway, good luck with it all _________________
