Here are my 2 engines I got today. This is to show size comparison:
What about that Jensen's sight glass though? Any guesses as to what is there?
I know Mr. Occlusion saw this one on ebay, he pointed out the lack of a regulator. |

I know that there are some that had no sightglass, measure the amount of water you want to use and fill it with a measured amount.
I do not think it will be that hard to fix up, try baking the Rustoleum Aged Copper High Heat at 200 degrees for 3 hours and do not paint inside the firebox.
That Mamod Meccano whatever looks to be in top notch shape as is, I bet it is a lot of fun, now you need to buy some Meccano.
In 1929 AC Guilbert bought the US rights to manufacture and market Meccano, he mixed it some with his Erector Set line that was already being marketed in the US. There are all kinds of Meccano and Erector items on Ebay so you can build all kinds of fun things and power them with that engine. _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |

The seller I got my TE1a from has an erecter set for sale right now. That is what I want.
About the sight glass, I know there have been plenty without sight glasses, just flat, but this one is different. |

That one sure looks like it has seen a bit of use, part of the fun is having something that is a little different than the next guys. IMHO I would not modify that one too much if it was mine. _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |

I'm not painting this one, it is the old copper firebox, I will just clean it the best I can. |

| I removed the screw. I was careful so I didn't damage anything. There is a gasket behind the screw John. |

It seems odd for a sight glass and too low for a level plug. _________________ Les - Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternatives.

| I also took it off that ugly wood base and was surprised how good of shape the metal base is in. |

Where the screw goes on the boiler, it sticks out a little and is flat for the screw to fit tight.
The screw came loose very easy, but was much longer than I expected.

| The hole size is also a little smaller than the SV and whistle hole. |
