Believe it or not Andrew and I polished it extensively when it first arrived. I've put him in charge of cleaning so I'll show him that pic when he gets in.
John's is really pristine, though, a real beauty.
Although ours is good I'm not sure we could ever get it to look like that. _________________ Richard

Once an engine passes through the Temple of Steam they are very Clean. I assume the same would be true about the Sandmans Steam Shack. Once Sandy has one you need to wear sunglasses to look at it I have been told. Also, they look shinier when photographed on a real sunny day. _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |

Thanks,
You'll have to bring your toffee apple, they don't have them here!
Shot some video tonight, in the dark, with halogen work lights. If I can get around to doing an edit I'll post it later. _________________ Richard

Here it is! Too long as usual.
Need design for final layout including Striker. Jensen 25 not to be permanent part of display. All entries must be submitted by 12.00 GMT on March 9, 2008.
Winner to receive retired hamster.

Andrew and Richard...very nice start on your fairground layout.
My only suggestions would be to work on the pulleys to change the speeds. Perhaps one quick change to reduce speed would be to have the main takeoff drive belt from the engine use the small pulley cast into the hub of the flywheel vs. using the 1.25" aluminum pulley mounted on the engine shaft.
Another possibility would be to have two lineshafts...one powered from the small hub of the Jensen, one powered from the larger aluminum pulley...thus you get two speeds from the same engine...all sorts of combinations are then possible.
Also, the dimmer switch in a box to control the engine voltage would allow for infinite adjustment of the engine speed.
Wow, what fun!!!

That was brilliant, maybe the roundabout needs to go faster, and as for a replacement hamster, I would go for the white mice.
It would give them some excitement in an overwise boring life.
Does anyone remember Tales of a Riverbank?
Well done Andrew and Richard. _________________ Les - Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternatives.

The roundabout needs some lubrication or something. When we took it out of the system, everything jumped to Warp Factor 8 and Scotty started beaming everyone back.
Definately intend to pick up a reostat.
No designs yet. _________________ Richard
