Got the Wilson today.....tidied up a bit of dodgy soldering and put in an exhaust tube (not its proper shape yet), oiled her down and filled her up, and off we went! Video's only 20 secs - my camera ran out of batteries!

Great engine Moose!
How much control does the regulator give you? _________________ Land Of Hope and Glory,

Great stuff Moose. Is there much history known about this maker? _________________ Make time to take a step back, and appreciate what you already have.

Not much that I know of - Wilson Bros. were a firm in Liverpool in '48 - they made two engines, this one and a much smaller one (this engine's not as large as it looks BTW - it's not much bigger than a Burnac).
They're nut-and-bolt contsruction, very solidly made. The boiler is silver soldered. The engine fram is a cast alloy, the flywheel is Mazak, the rest of the engine is copper, brass and sheet metal. The chimney is actually a centre flue, and the spent steam exhausts in the chimney - it "chuffs" nicely. Because of the solid construction the whole engine's a heatsink - it takes a while to get up to temperature, but once its running it runs very well and very efficiently. It gets bloody hot....I'm not sure what the regulator wheel is made of, I think it's wood, but it provides much-needed insulation _________________ Stands the glass half empty,

Somebody just sent me a scan of the instructions for the Wilson - I'll post them in the file sharing board. _________________ Stands the glass half empty,
