I started my steam car today, only at the moment it looks a bit like Frankenstein's monster.
All I have to do is make sure it runs before I get too far with it.

I dont think that you have enough gear ratio. It looks 1:1 to me

But if it works.......it will go like a bat out of hell

It is one 1:1, I thought I would chance it. If it is too fast then I win.

Looking good and this is all about straight line speed. If it can get going, that should be very fast. That's the same idea as I had for an easy way to get the thing to move.

Now it needs a bit of bling.

I did have a slight problem to start with, I had put the pulley too tight to the side and it wouldn't run.
And just when I sorted that out the 'o'ring went on the safety valve so I had to stop.

It lives.
After changing the 'o' ring I tried again.
This time it ran well, so all I need to do is tart it up a bit and then try it in the school playgrounds.

That's so cool Les.

I went for gearing, but if we are going for the drags I'll have to change things

I found it real handy to use my air compressor to test it as I fiddled around with the gearing.
Otherwise I would have gone through about 5 refills of the boiler/burner
