I started my steam car today, only at the moment it looks a bit like Frankenstein's monster.
All I have to do is make sure it runs before I get too far with it.

I dont think that you have enough gear ratio. It looks 1:1 to me
But if it works.......it will go like a bat out of hell _________________ Best Regards, Ranger Moore |

It is one 1:1, I thought I would chance it. If it is too fast then I win. _________________ Les - Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternatives.

Looking good and this is all about straight line speed. If it can get going, that should be very fast. That's the same idea as I had for an easy way to get the thing to move.
Now it needs a bit of bling. _________________ Manx, the mobile man |

I did have a slight problem to start with, I had put the pulley too tight to the side and it wouldn't run.
And just when I sorted that out the 'o'ring went on the safety valve so I had to stop.

It lives.
After changing the 'o' ring I tried again.
This time it ran well, so all I need to do is tart it up a bit and then try it in the school playgrounds.

That's so cool Les.
I went for gearing, but if we are going for the drags I'll have to change things
I found it real handy to use my air compressor to test it as I fiddled around with the gearing.
Otherwise I would have gone through about 5 refills of the boiler/burner _________________
