I will watch ebay and see if I can find a set that makes this model or one like it (maybe do a few modifications):

It is either going to need gearing down to move, or it is going to need a parachute to stop it.

Is it a steam dragster or is it just going to stall?

Looking forward to finding out!

That's what I'm thinking of. Did you use plans or your design?

No, no plans, all I did was work out a basic moving vehicle and made it up as I went along.

the truck in photo is old  Erector as in Gilbert Erector US made  different to meccano  but compatible . modern erector i think is meccano renamed  due to ownership changes. the wheels on truck are 3 inch  diameter  as against meccano wheels 2 1/2 inch diameter

Sounds great.

I am going to laugh when it takes off and you have to chase it   , might want to put a string on the back of the car to stop it.

I have this plan, I am going to get my children to help, one to set it going and the other to stop it at the other end while I film it.
just caught up with this thread. looks good les. how about slapping some grease onto  to the driven wheels. this would act like a clutch.( like we used to kero our tyres......(smoke em lol) as the grease wears off she will be off like a rocket!

Thank you,
I have not had a chance to run it yet, but the idea of the grease seems a good one to me.

Are we still going to have a dragster race at STIA?

Do you think we will need to draft up a set of rules if thats the case?

If one will fit then I do not see why not as the MEC1 have them.
Are you going to build a car then??

I most certainly am! I shall rebuild my SP3 (melted sight glass etc) and then start experimenting
