That is a lovely bit of engineering there, someone must have had a real passion to make all that lot.
If it runs as well as it looks you will have a totally unique power plant.
It is always a shame to bury it inside a boat where it is very rarely seen.
If you could moditfy the funnels slightly, it would make an ideal plant for a scale 'Turbinia'

A fairly easy hull to replicate yourself.

Thank you John! I forgot about the Turbinia. You're right about the funnel re-arrangement. Keeping the two fairly limits me to obviuously a twin funnel ship! I haven't seen the plant yet as it's on its way to me. When i get home i'll get more pics of it and i'll spool up the turbine on air. i didn't ask too many questions about it but i feel that indeed she is something special. There appears to be a gearbox with twin outputs as the boat she was fitted in was a twin screw. It also looks like she's a reverser too. I think i see a condenser under the turbine. Should be interesting to see if she's more than a single rotor too.
I see your turbine is coming along nicely, looks like something very special will be coming! What boat are you planning on building to fit the plant into?

Hi,
There's a joke in our model boat club. one of the chaps had a 4 ft model of Turbinya stolen. without recovery.
The joke is , what is faster than Turbinya, - The Stokers -
I mean can you imagine having to feed coal into that thing!!
Nice boat though

Beautiful boat, incredible turbine. Why did the owner want to separate them.?
Ruairidh., The pictures you post are like something out of fantasyland.

How do you get that in the jacuzzi??
On a serious note it would be a shame to bury the engine and boiler inside a boat where you cannot see it. _________________ Les - Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternatives.

Unfortunately the builder of the boat and engine passed away and his son was selling on the engine but keeping the boat. I got the impression that the guy was also sad to see the engine going as he said it held a great deal of sentimental value to him. I promised him that it was going to a good home and that it would eventually be back in a boat again.
Thanks for the offer of the Whaler! |

Titanic and Queen Mary had fireman shovelling.
That is until they became oil fired (and Titanic obviously didn't last long enough for that lol). _________________ burning fingers since 1989! |

Divide it into three like that rather beautiful traction engine that suddenly appeared in one of your posts. Any chance you could direct me to the thread or post it again?
Seriously, I just spent 15 minutes looking for that photo to show Andrew _________________ Richard
