Thanks lads! You'll notice one or two weird transitions in the video - that's where I had to cut out my swearing! That's one of the most truly scary things I've put myself through! All credit to the boat though....even at the choppier moments the water never even got close to the gunwales, and she remained dry as a bone.

Still waiting for a windstill day for the next trip though - Jaysus, Joseph and Mary!!

Aye, tis said Capt. Mooseman's a bold 'n hearty man. Well,
that he is lads, that he is. But, I wasn't bitin' me nails through the vid, no sir!
I sported and ear to ear grin, though.

Best vid I've seen in a while. From the strong, determined push of the engine away
from the dock, to the choppy water rocking the boat, to the unscripted gust
tearing off the roof! Pure magic, Odilon!

The green passengers referrence made me smile and the only thing missing
was the swearing which would've had me laughing in the aisle, yet
I hear myself chuckle anyway, imagining what was edited out!

I can only hope to be bold and adventurous as Moose was and do more
spontaneous vids like this one. Great boat, great voyage...well done!

Arrrrrrrr!!

Thanks Chuck......maybe I'll do an outtakes video one day, in several parts....part one: "Mooseman burns his fingers again: - Part two: 'Now where did that grub screw go"......and many, many more....

Well it took me nearly two weeks to summon up the courage to watch this video.

Don't think I could do it twice.

Such a beautiful boat, so many hours of loving labor.............., if it were mine I'd have jumped in after it too.

As a capsize survivor, I still wake up in a cold sweat at nights.  And I only had to rescue mine from 3 ft of crystal clear, 80F, seawater.

The frantic aftermath, rushing to save the steam plant, the servo, receiver, etc is the worst part.

Just love the launch, Moose, truly beautiful, such elegant lines, total class.

But while she passed her first sea trials with flying colors, I would not wish to see you test her seaworthiness under such conditions again.

Today was the perfect day for boating - warm, dry, no wind - so time for another outing with Festina Lente. I've made a few small improvements since the last trip, clad the engine bay with wood for easy of cleaning, weighted down te roof, and continued to run in John Moore's extraordinary engine - this will now run on a whiff of steam. For most of the video the engine is set up to run conservatively, giving a nice scale speed, but towards the end of the video I reset her for speed, and as you'll see, she very nearly outruns a full-size motor launch!

Apologies in advance for the slightly low quality and the cheesy music - my video camera's not happy.

She truly is the epitome of Edwardian elegance.

The music was very appropriate as well, I think it made the video just that little bit extra special

Good to see you got a better day out for steaming your launch. I like the way that the swans just ignore it as it steams by.

It seems that adding soundtracks to videos is the in thing at the minute, but I personally find it distracts from hearing the steam engine in action. But each to his/her own.

The mic on my video camera is FUBAR, and I didn't have an external to hand - hence the soundtrack rather than just a nasty buzzing noise.

Phew! That’s better!! Could actually sit back, relax & enjoy rather than chew nails to the quick. Lovely stuff, beautiful boat & perfect music!
Think the swans enjoyed it too
