You know more than I about German engines so I can't make a comment about your offer!
MM, it is a rather large place, I'd say it is about 1/4 in size of Amberley (Amberley being 36 acres...) _________________ Si

There was also this great display, does this belong to a forum member?
MTA- I saw you connect your music box to an engine during the day but wasn't able to come over and look. What tune does it play?
After seeing your great new Plane L4 in steam I think I had better find one!! _________________ You should buy a Marklin, their Great!! |

It didn't work so well, as the SE2 does not have such a fine control regulator.
The tune is 'La Vie en Rose'. Forest Classics sell them, but they are not listed on his website.
I do not think the stand next to mine belonged to a forum member I'm afraid _________________ Si

Great pics MTA and thanks for the Butcher pics. The Traction Engine seems to be rarer than the Steam Roller so thanks for that. _________________ Manx, the mobile man |

No problem Manx. As soon as I saw them I instantly thought 'Manxman!'
I can understand why people like them, particularly the one in brown seeing as it is based on a prototype (Tasker 'Little Giant' for those that don't know...) _________________ Si

It was a great day, my daughter couldn't believe it was time to go as we only been there 7.5 hours
I have a few pictures which I'll add tomorrow. Good to catch up with everyone and to steam some engines.
I bought a bit of meccano so I make something steam based in the next few weeks _________________ Chuff chuff!!

great pics MTA, looks like you had a good time by all accounts!
that gauge one 0-6-0 looks markedly like an Aster GER tank.

A few more pictures. The day went so quickly chatting to the other guys, meeting visitors, steaming that I didn't take many pictures. It seemed to be time to pack up so quickly

I would also like to mention that I had the great pleasure to meet Mr Jenn Wren Lilliput himself - Mr Phil Gravett (thanks Simon for introducing him).
Phil took the time to tell me a little about himself (a tool maker) and that he'd just made a few engines for pleasure and to sell over ten years ago. He said that he had some materilas left over from that time and thought he'd use them up and see if he could sell a few more. Since STIA and Roly's public running of these engines Phil said he's been pleasantly surprised at the level of interest in his engines and so does plan to re-make the Beam Engine
Phil did say that he has received at least one advanced order for a Beam Engine (You know who you are - living across the water, growing up in Rumford ).
Phil introduced me to his wife and daughter too and showed me his experimental box with a whole host of miniture engines he'd "just roughly turned out" and needless to say they were magnificent. I did thing of Moose when he showed me the miniture V twin marine engine
What a great day _________________ Chuff chuff!! |
