\'In Need Of A Clean\' Machine!
Much as I enjoy rejuvenating sad lonely engines, it's nice to find one that just (fingers crossed!!) needs a good scrub.
Saw this on e-bay and put in a bid. Surprisingly I won.

The paint appears largely original, despite a large loss on one side of the boiler. It's filthy, so I reckon with a little effort I might actually have a rather characterful little beast.

Usually when I receive such an engine it turns out to have been repainted anyway, often with a brush, but this time I think I may have a genuine 'Old Crusty', which would be a really cool addition to the fleet. If it's just the wheels that have been repainted, I can live with that. We shall see!

Looks promising, and I think 'Old Crusty' would be a fine title for your new addition!

All Mamods bow down at the front wheels of that indestructible hero of an engine. When an engine won't run you just whisper "Remember Twice Fried...' and it is inspired to burst into steamy life.

I really like that phrase and I'm going to find a way of using it at work tomorrow

'Old Crusty' has now been under the cleaning rag and been defluffed!
I test ran it at the weekend and it goes great.
It's going to be a trusty Old Crusty

Lol! I know. It was all oily fluff! Hopefully not navel fluff...
Perhaps I should call it "Mildly Crusty"......or fry it

From now on forum members will be asking: "Got this on e-bay. Should I go for a full restore, leave it as it is or set it on fire?"

If you go for the third option Graham, be careful not to set yourself on fire, just ask Pete,
