That's a beautiful engine ! I don't Know what to do about the burner though. Anyone know who could make one or better still where I could get an original ?

It sure looks like a complicated burner.

I know that Mirko (Dampzauber) has contacts who may be able to help you there, though finding an original must be a real long shot sadly

That just looks like a twin tube vaporizing spirit burner. A bit more invoved to make than a standard multi wick burner, but not terribly complicated.

Im not sure how it works- seems more like an extended version of the "gassifiers" that large Bing Marklin and Dols have- see the 2 tubes- I think they are the "Pilot lights" which warm up the central larger gassifier, this then heats up the 2 parralel tubes and they then burn ?

I cant see the small tube joining to the larger tube at the top, so I think thats what it is- thats complicated

Yes, thats excactly how it works, certainly very hard for average Joe to make one from scratch in my opinion.

Well given its rarity I would think that Mirkos friend or contact would be likely to help out here, well worth the (more than likely) expense. I am pretty sure Ive seen him make a Bing gassifier burner- and a quality one at that

Sorry, I phrased that wrong. It is an involved and labor intensive project, but does not appear to have any processed involved that are outside the realm of pretty readily available brass shapes.

My own personal feeling is that if I could get an original burner it would be the best option. I realise it could be expensive but given the nature of the model it would be worth the money. Would it be presumptuous of me to assume that they would not neccesarily make the burners model specific ? In other words one burner would suit a wide variety of models ? If that was the case, then I (or we???) could  source a burner somewhere ?

you are right: The burners i own are not that complicated ! BTW  keep that engine as it is ! Dontīrestore it: Even a worse original condition stays original

cheers Joe
