It's only a few bob for a wire brush to fit in a drill, perhaps jsut go down to the iron mongers?

I do have a local tool shop, but I tend to find out if we have one already before spending unnecessary money

I knew it was something along those lines, just checking! Mainly because when someone says 'split pin' I think of those brass ones that you use in school that are sharp and bend easily
