I dug out this poor old machine to give me something to work on while I get the stuff together for my Cyldon.

It leaks everywhere and there's solder splashed all over.

I'll work on it now and then when I'm between jobs.

Sandy,

Looks structurally sound...just a mess of solder to clean off, but we know that is well within your capabilities. I was surprised to see how thick the cylinder walls are on that engine.

We often think Mamods are not of the same quality as Bowmans ...but my Bowman E101's cylinder walls are less than half that thick.

Great that you have before pics and video...it will be neat to see the transformation.

cheers,
Rog

Thanks for the comments folks.

As I said, I'll work away on this one when I'm between bigger jobs.

I bought it in the knowlege that I would have to use all of my new found skills to fix it.

A good practice job.

Sure you don't want to come down under for a break, a lot of my engines could do with the Sandman touch. Might be an idea to wait a while though, we just had the lowest maximum temperature ever recorded in the 160 years that records have been kept, 5.8 degrees Celcius - maximum, brrrrrrr.

Cheers

Chris

Just before I forget, the wick was gone, so I used one of my mop string wicks for the first time and it worked great.

It didn't even scorch.

Must be able to get thousands of wicks from one mop head.

Great idea. (Whoever it was)

Just another great tip of many I've got from this forum.
