A Mamod Minor that is complete and in (moderate) great condition including a vap burner!
Piston, crank and flywheel all move perfectly and only about 10% of the paint is missing (the green on the frame is slightly chipped and has the usual scorching).
Here's the catch: It is the one I got off ebay with the damaged boiler. The end cap under the chimney has cracks in it due to a previous owner being a twit and over pressurising it by not checking the safety valve. The boiler other than that is in an expected condition and will polish up very well. Some of the original laquer is still visible, chimney is not dented and is straight, safety valve has been un-jammed but needs a small service etc..
James very kindly offered to fix it, but the cost I would be willing to give out for fixing it greatly out weighs the cost of getting another.
Is a good project for the professional! And has great novelty value as it one of the few Mamods that have reached their maximum operating pressure! (I wonder what Psi it took to breech the brass? )
Is in pieces now for cleaning, but it looked like this:
I paid £21 for it, so I'll say £12 (inc p&p for UK) and it's yours, unless some of you want to pay more (if more than one person messages me, I'll contact them and let them blind bid for it)
Nothing else is wrong with it except for the boiler (apart from the burner which appears to have be twisted, but very easily fixable)
Sorry to see it go after having it such a short time, but it'll be great when fixed! _________________ Worrying the populace since '82' |
