This finally arrived today. The poor bus has been held up with the British postal strike and nearly didn't get to me. However, better to arrive late and in one piece than not at all.

This is one of the first 80 buses made by Mamod in 1989 and sold through Hamleys Toy Store in London. It comes with a box and is unfired. I've done a pic with my standard Bus so you can see the difference (not very much).

However, I think a good addition to my mobile collection. I wonder what the rest of you think?

I like it Manx, i've always been a fan of the bus. Even if some people call it an ornament, so what?

Lots of people buy figures for thousands of pounds to stick in a cabinet so what's the difference?

I think it's one for the future. Seeing as it;s limited edition i'd be happy to see it go up in value over the next 20-30 years

Excellent addition to the collection Manx!

You're right MM. One for the future. Now all I need is a green bus and yes the Millenium Bus. Oh no, more money and I'll need more shelves and these bloody things are big and hard to hide.

Nice one Manx, and all boxed and complete too.

One to hang onto, as there are no more of that one being made.

Great bus you got there, how do you steer it though?

Sadly, I beleive that one of these days all the steam manufacturing companys will make something else to not go out of buisness. Then all the steam engiens that we have will basicly triple in prices overnight. This may not be true but possible.

With difficulty

Reach in and turn the steering wheel, it's not exactly quick over 100 metres

I think you could be right. The numbers being made these days are quite small. But still a few makers going and other trying to start up. I think we'll have toy steam with us for a few years yet.

I think and hope steam toys are here to stay. There will always be children and adults interested in our engineering heritage, and steam toys are a relatively cheap way of learning about it and experiencing it even if it is on a small scale.

Anyway, what I was going to say was "nice bus". I do like the look of the mamod mobiles, and the bus has to be the ultimate one.

I was also going to make a joke about the bus being late, and then two arriving at once, but I am tired!

I think steam toy will have their time again. There is always a market for adults as collectors.

But getting the kids into this hobby isn't easy. It's by pure luck i'm sitting here typing this message out
