heard things about brass and bronze to do with heat, do they handle it?

I`d suggest they have used brass and bronze on steam engines since the time of the industrial revolution.

Please dont think those thoughts. It is very useful for the forum that questions are being asked. Everyone will learn something from the replies that are given to any question asked, not only the one person asking but there is bound to be others who wonder the same things but haven't yet found that out.
I have learned a lot in here from reading replies to other peoples questions and I am sure that so is the case with all others in here as well, something new about a subject show up for all of us. No one here is the "know how" of all things.

As for your tread question, I think many good answers are out all ready, I cant ad anything to it without causing more confusion then needed. Only your interests and your financial position will limit the choices you have once you leave the specific toys like Mamod's and Wilesco's behind.

Hemmens is not an honest man, sadly.
be aware !
He will take your depositum but never deliver any engine. He took £600 deposit from me so i do know this, no hear say from others, or rumors.
