Good work, it is good fun to make meccano toys to run from engines. Always takes longer than I think to bolt the things together though!
Is that the great Buster Keaton in your avatar? _________________ Chris

Oh yeah, I love playing with the old meccano - I don't have a lot of it, but have had i forever - it actually was my Dad's - the set has to be 65 years old...
And the avatar - for sure, it's Buster Keaton. He was a comic genius - an amazing career spanning 7 decades. And the originator of my signature line too... _________________ Quando omni flunkus moritati |

I am fairly new to Buster Keaton. An English comedian (Paul Merton), recently did a series covering the most famous silent stars (Buster, Harold Lloyd, Laurel and Hardy and Chaplin). I watched the series as I have seen a few Chaplin and Lloyd films, but I was amazed by the episode about Buster.
After that I bought a box set of Buster DVDs (probably not the best edition). So very funny, and a superb acrobat.
Goes to show that great comedy is timeless. _________________ Chris

Meccano models look great, the windmill is a ripper. Think I will pull out some of my Meccano and have a play over the Christmas holidays. Thanks for the pics and video Dave |

Some nice 1930s Meccano there.
I think NASA could use that aeroplane one for G-force training for the astronauts.
If you want some more plans have a look in the Meccano section as I've posted a few fairground rides there. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm

I'm not sure I'd like to ride that roundabout of death. Looks like the sort of thing they torture astronauts with. Maybe you could add some gears in to slow it down a bit.
Good stuff though, keep it coming! May be try and make a beam engine replica? |

Oh yeah - I had the same thoughts as everyone - the fairground ride from hell... it's no fun till you puke!
The meccano set has been used and abused for decades - no driver wheels other than the 1/2" ones, no gears - thus the NASA centrifuge effect.
Beam engine eh? Great idea! _________________ Quando omni flunkus moritati |
