I've seen an Accucraft Garratt running, and it was far too silent for my liking. Didn't make any sound what so ever, hopefully John's coal fired ones do!!!

Simon, there is no comparison between the two - remember that the coal fired NGG16 is the real thing!

Chris,
If you were to coal fire a TE1A, you'd need a boiler with atleast one flue, a steam blower in the smoke box, there'd be nawt left of the bugger!

That'll be John Shaw then...?

I bet you've not asked him to build you a coal fired boiler for a TE1a...

Chris.

No, John builds the boilers and does all the paperwork, then my friends puts all the bodywork together, I don't think he does all of them though.

I meant the other Chris but no, I do know John Shaw though !

If you think about it Simon, the real thing barley makes any noise! 16mm stuf never makes a noise that impress' me, but perhaps I'm just expecting too much .

I think a repeat visit to the WHR is needed to compare Like you, 16mm stuff sounds all the same TBH

It'll work hard on the S-bends, but which garden railway has gradients that steep??? Ocilators are the only real variety in noise.
