I was reading an old Railway Modeller mag and there was an article on converting a SE2A to a loco using Mamod, Meccano and some other easily found parts. Very interesting and it does work. I am not sure on copyright as to scanning the article though to put on the forum.

I am going to obtain a poor SE2A and build one though and then I will post the progress.

There would be copyright on the magazine article but not on your photos of your build and explanation of what you've done.

Keep an eye on ebay UK and you should get one cheap enough.

Sure I've seen a photo of one of these on a Garden Railway website, but where?

SE2As do come up on UK ebay but prices are going high at present, unless you do not mind one from 'Sandra' or one of the other dodgy 'restorers'. I've been on the lookout for an SE2A to complete my collection and the last one went for £27, but that was from 'stuartb' who has been 'listed' here as one of the dodgy restorers. Still as you are looking for a cheap one this is probably your best option. Here's one but it is probably outside your price range already - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAMOD-STEAM...PageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
