Well I couldnt resist, it looked worse in the pic on ebay, and at £37 with post its not too bad.
No burner, one of the 2 iron straps are missing as is the chimney,
The main problem is a dent in the baseplate.
I think its quite an early one
Let the pics do the talking
Looks like everything is bent over but actually its that the whole boiler is twisted so should be easy to fix
Ahh cobwebs and verdigris also needs a bit of soldering- we will see

Images of Frankenstein's monster spring to mind I presume you are going to fully restore her AM _________________ Si

Mustve been another James, Yellow jr only forum member I could see, but he only bid to £13!
Sorry if you were bidding , but didnt see you were.
Have given it a good oil, and taken off the boiler. Its now straight turns over well, apart from the dent and small solder and LOTS of polish should come up nice.
Will face the "paint or no paint" for the base later on......
Anyone got a spare starp for the boiler |

I'm guessing a full repaint will be in order on that one.
The whistle by itself is worth 20 to 25 pounds so not a bad buy. When I got my se3 it was only in slightly better condition than that, no dents but all rusted up and now its a great engine. So good luck with the restoration _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm

Wow... needs a wee bit more than a wipe with an oily rag. I can see some of the earlier features on it that you mention (am getting a bit better at Mamod-Spotting).
Hope the boiler comes up nice and clean, without rot.
I'll certainly be watching this space for the transformation _________________

That is still a great buy, well done.
No reason it shouldn't come up looking like new. That's the joy of these engines _________________
