Gents,

just seen this in an antique shop locally. Its advertised as an 'Old Meccano Motor'

It is Meccano? If not any ideas?

Is it a Motor or a dynamo?

Will it work as a dynamo?

Sadly its behind glass so I cant fiddle without asking first

I don't think its Meccano as the holes in the base aren't to Meccano standard and I've never seen it before, but wait until one of the real Meccano experts come on.

There is this on Ebay.
It might help as a comparison.

Indeed, perhaps I should have said I'm not entirely sure it is meccano.

It should work as a dynamo in theory, but it might not be a very good one in practice. The magnet on mine has lost most of its magnetism, in fact it will only run now if I put another magnet on top of it.
