I think you are right Manxy, after they've re-done the loco it is time! |
I think it's about time they gave the boats another chance. I think thre'd be more interest nowadays. _________________ Regards

Yep, I agree as well. I wonder how the Wilesco boat has been going. I've not seen many about. I love to know how many have been sold. _________________ Manx, the mobile man |

The problem with the Wilesco boat in my opinion is that it has the one truly bad engine in the Wilesco range to power it -the D3.
This engine is a very poor performer from what I've seen and not an engine I would want in a boat. As has been said earlier in the post these companies are running businesses and so the Wilesco has the D3 engine in it purely on cost grounds I'm sure
Could Mamod afford to develop a boat engine and fit it in a hull at a price that would sell in sufficient number - I doubt it (I'd love one if they did though ) _________________ Chuff chuff!! |

Just had a closer look at the D70 at it looks as though the boiler is from the D3 but the cylinder is Wilesco's double acting set up so this might be quite a reliable steamer.
At £400 pounds RRP it makes a Bowman Snipe at £340 look like a bargain
