As a Texan , now living in the Pacific Northwest for 10 years - I have discovered a whole new world- The move a purely a quality of life move and it is all that I could have hoped.
I found a great wife -who supports my acquiring hobbies and finally had a child. Life is grand with a 5 year old daughter at 50 years old!!!
I am an avid back packer and do a bit of mountaineering. MO-GO-GEAR was my first hobby business designing and producing ultralight back packing alcohol stoves. It is now closed.
I also home distill single malt scotch- another fun pastime for the obvious reasons.
I also , as my personal website indicates, collect and restore old espresso machines. Mostly lever / piston / manual types from all over the world.

A late hello from Australia. 
My wife been a big fan of 'real coffee' would be very happy to have you as a next door neighbor as although I did buy her a coffee machine a few years back it is a cheap modern one and really too slow to be able to make more than one cup at a time.

Being an Aussie- you probably bought her an Atomic!!
I am a nut for espresso!! I roast my own coffee beans and restore for other people as well as for myself.
Here is a machine I did for a fellow in Hong Kong with African ebony wood handles and knobs- ebony and bronze tamper -this is a 1967 model
Here is a shot of my kitchen set up- an Olympia Cremina- a design from an Italian family in Italy -but the company is in Switzerland. And Bezzera from Milan- both are about almost 30 years old. scale wise they are only 12" tall. Mornings are really fun to begin near these two!!
They have Boilers that run at .9-1.2 Bar-- they can steam!!!!!! The Small one has a 1.3 liter boiler the one on the right has a 3 liter ..

No this was a real cheapo unit (well not that cheap but definately in the low end) from a local department store, I think it was a brevel or something like that.
The first one I bought we filled it up with water and turned it on and all the water just ran out over the bench. 
It had some serious issues. It went back to the shop and a replacement was got. Its fine for expressos but not so good for cappuccinos as it doesn't really produce enough steam and takes for ever to froth the milk.

Welcome Mogogear, I too am a traveled Texan, having moved to Saudi Arabia for about 4 years. But I have to say I liked coming back to the states.

First time I've encountered an espresso coffee machine collector/restorer
Gets made the old-fashioned way here, unless I have guests - grind beans (no, I don't roast them myself ) in wooden hand grinder, pour boiling water over grouts in paper filter in top of old porcelain two-tier pot like this (except mine is badly chipped  ) :
But do miss the odd cappuccino & I haven't got a single malt still........  Although sounds a heck of a good idea |
