Ok, put your favourite, steam dealers here:
Also, add any hassles or problems with others you've had. Might be worthwhile thread for us, and newbies/visitors
Mine is Foreststeam. Basically through ebay no hassles, readjusts postal prices for me (if needed) for multiple items.
Generally, I buy, receive invoice and pay. Can't get any easier than that.
Also answers any questions.
Problems with others.
Basically I received the wrong safety valve. I was new to Mamods, asked for an appropriate safety valve for SE2a, and got a larger SE2/SE3 type valve.
Bought about 3, or 4 safety valves from him, and a "instruction booklet. Charged total postage that added up on ebay, so I asked for a readjusted postal price. Went unanswered, so paid 10 pound postage. Which is rough price for a SE2a, MEC1 to be posted here.
Actual postage price worked out to be something like 4pound max. _________________

I have had excellent experiences with Forest Steam, Jensen and Ali's Toy Shed.
Personally I have never had a problem with Paper 'n' Steam, I have used him many times over the years, although not recently.
My only negative experience has been with CSP Services who used to make Bowman and SEL spares, but I believe he has since gone out of business. Just as well - astonishingly rude bugger. _________________ Stands the glass half empty,

| I have used Forest a few time recently, also I tend to use a lot of private sellers on ebay for parts etc. P&S has been OK in the past, although I have been let down on a number of occaisions with orders - so would think hard before I used his services again. |

It's either Forest Classics or Chase as I've received excellent service from both of them.
I recently bought a whole miss match of parts from Chase (odds and ends for my locos in track etc), all of which arrived as per the order and within two days. Likewise, Forrest offer an excellent service from their ebay store.
As for PSS, I bought some buffers for my loco (2 sets) but for some reason, they supplies me with two different types ......... Grrrreat.
I'm in the process of ordering from IP but I have to say that I'm far from impressed. I raised two order but decided to cancel one, as the part description wasn't adequate, so in reply, they cancelled both ....... Grrrreat.
So at the moment the table looks like this :-
1) Chase (only because I bought more from them).
2) Forrest Classics & Mac Models
3) PSS
4) IP (as I still haven't got my order).

He's my fave seller too Lewis, but it sometimes takes a little while in sending/receivng parts. Paid for on 19th 9th, received yesterday, but looks like it was posted on 28th I think
Bit of an overcharge on last item too, by 2 pound, but not to worry
I'm overall quite happy with him. _________________

I haven't been doing this for long, but I've bought quite a bit from Forest, Model Enthusists and Chas Steam. I know the last one gets a bad press, which makes me wary, but so far I've had brilliant service from all three. _________________ He who keeps his head while all about him are losing theirs, doesn't know how serious it is. |
