A while back someone posted a pic of a worker in a Wilesco factory soldering an engine. Not sure what thread that was in.
Anyway in the pic it appeared that an oxy was being used, so I asked if Wilesco's are silver soldered, but there was no response.

So does anybody know if they are?

I just saw this and it mentions "hard soldered"

Not sure if you could tell the difference between soft and silver once soldered (except silver might be shinier?)

Just curious, that's all. Can't imagine them using oxy's for soldering otherwise, esp if they cut costs by using recycled materials anyway

I've got no idea Wallace.... I doubt they are hard soldered as their cheap materials would probaby melt under the extreme heat

Most parts are silver soldered on the boiler, but I believe the steam pipe to the cylinder is a really tight push fit onto a tube that protrudes from underneath
