Arrived yesterday, crickey  what have let myself in for!!!!!
I new it was going to be challange........
I was thinking can I fit a steam a steam engine (Original thoughts was to use a mamod mecano engine I have and modify / convert or just use boiler....??????
Any comments and any advice on restoration on this wonderful old puffer. .... 
This was originally built in 1988 it got stuffed under a bench about 1993 and stayed there until some idiot  bought it!!!!!!

Chust sublime! Looks like she needs a good dust but all else is well  I've one in a similar state of disrepair but has had a coating of some sicky oil all over it. It's another one of "my projects for the future"! It's a wee boat, i've wondered what the most suitable engine for it might be. I look forward to the progress! |

I would start by removing all the loose parts, give it a good clean and then see what you have to work with.

Yea!!! Some one else with the Maritime Sickness... a fondness for projects !!!! It is good to have partners in crime... don't worry till you have , say... 5 or so of these things...

I need replacement parts mainly the boom and quiet a lot of white metal parts.
The problem I have will be identifying the lost / damaged parts as the instruction manual is missing.
Does any body have a copy of the instruction manual to help me identify all the parts? |

Jokita Ltd manufacture the Caldercraft range of models, so I would try asking them first for a copy of the plans, etc. - http://www.jotika-ltd.com/
The name Maggie is of course from the famous 1954 Ealing Comedy classic film - The Maggie, one of my all time favourites. So I assume your boat has Maggie Glasgow on its stern.
Looks like you have got a lot of work to do, and that includes putting the bridge structure on the right way (it has been fitted backwards for some reason).
Not sure if this boat is suitable for a steam engine as it is rather small. Most owners fit a smoke generator instead.
Clyde Puffers are one of my favourite boats. I have a highly detailed Mountfleet Highlander kit which I bought from a professional model boat builder, and hope to fit a Cheddar Models engine to it one day. I've also had 2 great holidays on the V.I.C. 32 which is still steam powered and allows you plenty of hands on if you so wish - www.savethepuffer.co.uk

I hope you can post some pictures once it is cleaned up, that looks to be a wonderful boat. I think the members of the forum are obtaining the nicest boats. First class boats for first class people.

Interesting, Uist is a rather strange name to put on this boat as it is neither a port (the usual practice) or a place - the Uists Islands are called North Uist & South Uist, there is no Uist Island.
Looks like you will have a busy time getting this boat back into shape.
