Thanks MM, have also learnt by my green base Bowman not mixing well with meths and have now got some clear laquer         ,

would that red do for the tatty flatbase with the disc crank (SE1) and the brass firebox (where the paints fallen off)  I showed you at STIA, or are the older flatbases different colour?

Good to report some progress on this one, have sorted the dent out, and am slowly respraying.

Irritatingly the solder on the whisle wasnt strong and its come off, so the end cap will now need unsoldering   .

Only pic so far

After

Pic is out of focus- sorry!

Cheers guys.

Wouldnt tolerate my puny muscles MM,
put penetrating oil round it and gave it a twist. No girthy muscles here, this is Gloucestershire

Just goes to prove it werent a G&G silver soldered one

Wow, there's a lot of work in that one, looks like it's been in a pond or well,      to see.  Would love to see more pics as you progress in your restoration as it progresses.

Cheers

When all else fails, break out the BFH

I love those repairs that look so impossible and become invisible. Great work.
