The Boat ran well Moose and I can understand you swearing a couple of times as I did just watching the video.
I know what its like when you want to try it out and the wheather won't let you.

I've lown my 17 gram RC plane in wind that was too strong for bigger planes just because I wanted to take it out. I did start to get worried when I had elavator down, engine full speed and I was still climbing backwards once.

Just spent a couple of hours reading this thread and it was well worth it. A truely wonderfull boat. You had more faith than I would have had sailing her on her maiden voyage in that weather. That was a scale gale! (Witness the roof flying off!) It certainly proved that she's stable, though.

Thanks Roly.....it was a risk, but an informed one.....I did try her out in the bath tub, and she's very good at righting herself....the waves on the lake were strange though, really choppy, not seen them like that before.....the roof is just balsa, it weighs next to nothing, so I'll have to find a better way of holding it in place than a friction fit.

Just catching up on postings after my short trip overseas for more steam trains.

Get to see that you have finally got your steam launch baptised, but as others have already stated it was above limits for a maiden voyage sailing. Indeed when the QE2 went on its first voyage on the Clyde it had to divert into a dock due to bad weather, and you should see the sequences of the tugs struggling to get it into that dock. If you've not got a pair of waders for the subsequent recovery (did the sailboat owner get his boat back?), then I'd be more patient waiting for better weather for the initial sailing.

Don't think I'd have had the courage to let her go that day ! But more than proves her sea/pond worthiness
