Mamod Water slide transfers/decals
Contact
Mamodman123
Over the past few months Chris (Flywheel, I call him the Wizard from the Oz) and myself have been in discussions to make ALL Mamod stationary decals available for purchase to forum members only.
Firstly I would like to say, from a personal point of view these decals are top top quality. These far surpass any available from steam retailers. All have been redrawn from the original engine decals by a graphics decal maker. In the process, to get the quality, the decals had to go through the printing process 6 TIMES in total . That's just to give you an idea of the work and time that has gone into these. I really do highly recommend these, and they are testiment to the time and effort Chris has put into producing and making these available. Just a small example of the decal in place on the correct engine:
The Decals
Below are the list of the decals and prices. The prices are exclusive of postage and packing which is 40 pence first class in a stongly backed envelope. All decals are posted with full instructions.
PRE-WAR Mamod Decal 1937-40
The same as I used on my SE4 and suitable for any pre-war engine and possibly early '46 ones.
These are priced at 2.00 GBP each + 40 pence postage/packing. Inclusive of instructions.
BLUE OVAL DECAL (1946-53)
Suitable for 1946-53 engines, MM1/MM2/ SE1/SE2/ etc
These are priced at 2.00 GBP each + 40 pence postage/packing. Inclusive of instructions.
RED OVAL DECAL (1953-57ISH)
Suitable for 1950's engines MM1/2/SE1/2 etc
These are priced at 1.50 + 40 pence postage/packing. Inclusive of instructions.
RECTANGULAR DECAL 1957-mid 60's)
Suitable for sides of fireboxes at the top. SE1/2/3 MM1/MM2
These are priced at 1.50 + 40 pence postage/packing. Inclusive of instructions.
SMALL SCALLOPED EDGED DECALS (1970's)
Ideal for later SE3 fireboxes on the front/ MM1's side
These are priced at 1.50 + postage/packing. Inclusive of Instructions.
LARGER SCALLOPED EDGED DECALS (1970'S)
Ideal for most 1970's MM2/SE1/2 etc!
These are priced at 1.50 + 40 pence postage/packing. Inclusive of instructions.
I am personally distributing these decals amoungst the UK members. If you wish to order any of the above please give me a pm and i'll get you sorted out with some quality decals. If you live in Australia/outside of the UK Chris (Flywheel) will be able to help you out.
The pictures don't do these justice! these are ideal for any engine that is missing the decal to really finish it off. I have sold two of the rectangular ones already, but rest assured there are plenty left guys.
Payment methods will be discussed in full when you make the order VIA PM.
Thankyou! MM
Just to bring you up to date.
The blue oval decals have run out completely due to the popularity.
I have some more on the way from the Oz though.
Please contact Mamodman for orders or more information

Wonder Wick ( Long Lasting Ceramic Wick)
Contact:
Mamodfan
Wonder Wick is a ceramic based wick for your toy steam engine burners that will last in excess of 5 hours constant use.
Unlike the standard cotton type wick material that burns out after only a few minutes use causing an unsatisfactory flame until the height of the wick is adjusted, the Wonder Wick does not burn so requires no adjustment even after prolonged use.
This wick has found many satisfied customers who have used it with their Bowman, Hobbies, Mamod, Cyldon, Mersey Models, and SEL stationary steam engines and it is also highly suited for use in Bowman and Mamod SL1 steam locomotives that have been converted to use a Meths Burner.
Please specify the diameter when ordering
4.5mm diameter £4.00 per metre
6.5mm diameter £4.50 per metre
Both are supplied in 1 metre lengths
some pictures of the long lasting wick in action.
the first pic is of the wick installed in one of my burners
the next pic shos the flame height at 1 minute burn time
this picture shows the state of the wick after 10 minutes, burnt but set like a mantle in a gas burner.
this shows the wicks after 1hour 30 burn time nothing has been done to them
this shows the flame height at 1hour30, it is comparable to 1 minute.
the final picture shows the state of the wick at 2 hours burn time and there is still plenty of life in it

Resto Kit for Mamod 1/4"Safety Valves and fibre washers
Contact
barry1946
I designed this gadget to help me restore 1/4" Mamod safety valves.
You screw the sv into the tool, turn in the screw and the sv is opened up so you can clean the shaft and remove the old sealing ring. You then slip on a new 'o' ring and unscrew!
The screw enables you to open both the long sv (on mobile models), and the short (found on stationary models). In effect you get an extra hand as the tool can be held in a vice whilst the sv is worked on.
I have sold this item on the Forum, feel free to ask previous buyers in an open post to get their opinions of it.
For £7.50 + 75p post & packing (UK), you get - the Tool, 3 'O' rings, 3 fibre washers, and full instructions as well as any aftersale advice you need!
PM me if interested. I also have a 3/8" version, again PM if interested. I have posted overseas (Australia & US) ask about postal rates.
I also offer the following sizes fibre washers -
5/32" Fibre Washers ( fits SEL Water Level Plugs )
3/16" Fibre Washers ( fits Mamod Water Level Plugs, and SEL whistles ).
1/4" Fibre Washers ( fits later type Mamod and SEL Safety Valves, and Mamod whistles ).
3/8" Fibre Washers ( fits Mamod “old type” Safety Valve ).
again PM if you need some!
I can also supply 'O' rings to fit Mamod and SEL safety valves, again just send a PM if you are interested.
I now have the honour of being the "Official Fibre Washer Supplier to the Forum"
