yeah but it looks like somethings flowed over the paint that has faded if it was sun damage there wouldnt be big blotches of unafected paint.  _________________ knowledge is power

Meths wouldn't fade paint like that. The pigment in the paint is damaged due to the sun most likely. _________________ Solid Fuel tablets explode
You could get a nice flatbase for that

Polish that boiler end cap to make sure there isnt a problem there.
I have done that last night its ok no problem there and filled it with water and its water tight  |

Thats a nice one there, would the base clean up with some T cut then wax?
To test the boiler you need to steam her, as the pressure then may show up leaks.
Is there any copper colour left on the end cap- if there is then it may be dezincifying
Looks OK to me , just gunge I think  |
