at least its somewhere were it cant be vandalised or scrapped.
in fact its the location that saved it if it had been in an easy to reach area it would have been scrapped long ago.

its a good site with lots of hidden bits that can take a while to find heres some of the really interesting stuff

Veiw From the North sell it i beleive.

He thought it was very upsetting that they couldn't fund the restoration.

As he said in a later episode concerning government funding...

"If you want to open a ballet school you'll get bloody millions from the government but to restore a part of our heritage thats kept hundreds of people in bread and butter for a long time. You get nothing!"

That is so true when I was at town hall 1 time the mayor was asking about ideas for a new transport system in middlesbrough and middlesbrough used to have trams in the town so I said what about restarting the tram system it would be cheap and reliable but he said it was to old fashioned and said it wasnt a good idea I was quite offended and told him sometimes the old fashioned way is the best he just gave me a ,you havent a clue what your talking about, look and walked away.

politicians.

whats the point the council wont look after the nature trail and itll just end up as a fly tipping hot spot and a dump a preservation societty would keep it nice and clean and steam railways bring in tourism.

Dorothea quarry is pretty infamous because scuba divers use it for deep water practice, and every year there are fatalities. Very deep and very cold, and full of abandoned machinery.
