|
|
Mohr and Krauss, Flying Carousel, circa 1917 to 1923.
Last seen in pieces being cleaned.
The replacement disc is now ready. Am toying with the idea of spray painting it prior to installation.
Reassembled using wide grips to tighten the tabs. Worked beautifully. All the original wobbliness is now gone.
The vertical drive rod sits on top of the horizontal pulley rod and the Carousel is now so stable you can actually spin it.
As Andrew will now demonstrate..............

Richard and Andrew...what a nice restore to perfect function. That is a delightful piece of tin history I've not seen in pic or video til now. _________________ Visit IndianaRog and The Temple of Steam: www.indianarog.com |

Looking very good so far, it will be even better when you get it finished. _________________ Les - Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternatives.

Oh MY! That is GREAT! That thing spins on its own inertia, I bet it would want to fly if driven with a Steam engine.
To coin an expression that Roger uses, That is truly a thing of Beauty. Old World Charm to the max.
When is the test flight? _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |

There are only two speeds in the Virgin Islands. Dead slow and stop.
Complain about dead slow, you get stop.
We'll get there eventually. _________________ Richard

It's looking great. I'd love to see it again when the missing / re-placement disk has been fitted. Are you going to try and make a flag for the top? I think it will be a shame not to give that a go as the rest is now looking so good. It has cleaned a treat. _________________ Manx, the mobile man |

I agree, Chris.
Do you think the original flag was tin? _________________ Richard

If painted, it could be Brass and nobody would ever know the difference. _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |
