WM...

Aside from needing pulley ratios adjusted to slow things down, that is a lovely layout of those pieces...very nice base!

I'm terrible at sorting out pulley needs in my head, would probably take some large and small meccano pulleys and by trial and error between engine, lineshaft and the accessories...get the speed down to something more scale like.  The experimenting is where the fun is!!

Yes, but it'd be just fine if you replaced the riders with astronaut trainees.

Wonderful layout, WM.
I like the cars you added, too...that one with the little camper is great.

I've got one of these fairground layouts, too. My rides were converted
from Schiffer wind-ups. But it's been idle for so long and it needs some
attention, plus a finished base; I haven't even painted it. Which makes
yours all the more a treat for me.

In order to make the Ferris wheel slower than the rest, I made up a
three-shaft transmission out of some Meccano pieces. All pulleys and
rubber bands, but it worked good.

Thanks for posting that!

Thanks Wilescoman,

Great video.  It was, in fact, your first, much shorter, video that inspired Andrew and I to buy and build our own Wilesco fairground.  You have no idea how far your influence has extended.

You may have seen our videos of the temporary set up.  We've had it running on the Jensen 25, the Mamod SR1A 'Challenger' and the Wilesco Showman's engine.

Love the realistic display you've created.  The videography seems to have progressed well since the first posting.  Really great to see the longer, beautifully edited, version.

Gearing is always a problem,  the Ferris wheel, like mine, still has orbital launch capacity.  It may be wrong, but personally I like to see the carousel boats flying almost horizontally.

Our permanent base should be completed this week.  Unlike yours, ours is not realistic.  It is a piece of furniture on four different levels, each bounded by a brass railing.

I'll post in pics in Collections first, then shoot some video.

Great Post.
