As Pauly has started a thread, I'll keep things tidy & add to it
I also received a small parcel yesterday containing these 2 somewhat  grubby items plus a complimentary hank of Lincoln Longwool!
Most will recognize a pair of the now infamous Marshall patterns:

Gave them a gentle soapy wash to remove the oily grime & rather rank smell & amazing to discover the intricacy. The wheel is a jigsaw puzzle assembly of probably a dozen parts held together with brass pins. The other pattern also includes some brass & made of entirely different wood. After drying, I then applied some antique furniture balm made of turpentine; beeswax & laurel oil & am more than pleased with results:

Not wishing to ignite any old squabbles but consider this a far better outcome than a pile of ash…….. Had a certain person not been who he was, where he was & done what he did at a crucial time this would have been gone forever & no one any the wiser.
Very proud to be their present caretaker & always available should the need arise.

Gee they came up well. Hard to believe that under all that muck was something so nice. That wheel, valve knob or what ever it may be must of taken some time to make.

SG....those sure cleaned up and oiled up well...I'd be proud to display them for sure.  I am waiting on a little parcel one of these days...hope yet this week.

I agree, so much nicer that pieces like this ended up in loving hands vs. so much wood ash.  Thanks for sharing.
