I have a SE2 with the Meths burner, how much smaller is that burner than a SE3 burner I assume that the SE2 burner would work, but just end up with a shorter run time?

John there are 2 SE3 burners, long and short, the short are more common, I think.

I dont have an SE2 burner so I cant compare , but the "short" SE3 burner is still 9cm long and brass. The long is 10.5cm and mine is chrome, under the crappy black crud

Im sure you are right, less time steaming but pretty much the same power

Heres some pics,

the SR1 brass scuttle attached 6.5cm long burner

SE3 short brass and
an apology for SE3 long chrome one-
needs some cleaning, but I am a bit worried the chrome will
come off with too much rubbing

It's as Tom says John, the small burner out of the SR1 is about the same length as the one in the early raised base SE2 (after the 3 wick burner one), the middle one is from the normal SE3 engines - about 1960 to 1977, all but the first Camden Works SE3 - 1958, which has the longer chrome burner.

Cheers

Chris

When I pruchased my SE3 it had a SE2/SE1/SR1 type meths burner with it.

It barely ran using that. The brass type SR1 burner atticman posted might give more success if you have one, but the common meths ones just don't raise enough steam.

I had to make a burner for mine.

A new burner has been ordered. NOw I only need to have the Seller of the SE3 to tell me how much to pay him. I just dont understand why it takes someone so long to tell me how much to pay them, shen I sell I am anxious to get paid.
