could some off the people who model/work with 5" gauge tell me how you work out the measurement for the loco from the real one.

Assuming that your 5 inch gauge loco is standard gauge, then you need to divide the full size measurement by 11.3

i.e. 4 foot 8 1/2 inches (56.5 inches) divided by 11.3 gives 5 inches.

thats about right.  When I built my 5" gauge brake van driving truck I found that it was about 1:11th scale.  5" gauge is a bit random when it comes to standard gauge stuff.  You can get things from 1:10 to 1:12.

Do you have a 5" loco Titan?

I do as it happens - but it is a freelance narrow gauge petrol experimental loco of no particular scale, and has not been run for nearly six years, and has a thick layer of dust!
