I bought an Prewar SE3 last year in September but it has taken this long form me to get around to restoring it.

Originally it was missing the handle for the whistle, the chimney had been cut back in a raked fashin (probably used in a boat) and the burner was full of holes.

With the arrival of my new parts from Mamodfan, it was time to to restore it back to its former glory,

The paint on the engine wasn't original but had to be redone again as it was from a restorer who's paint jobs are renowned for bursting into flames

The large heavy flywheels make the whole cylinder/piston and geasr assembly beautifully balanced

And yes, contrary to the belief of some misguided people I do steam my engines - even the rare ones

It ran very well, but the piston and cylinder are fairly worn, even with using graphite string, there is a bit too much of a loss of steam out of the back of the cylinder/piston assembly for my liking.

Cheers

Chris

, I    wish,  they are repro ones. If you look in the For Sale board you will see that MM has them for sale.  I'm the originator of them but most of the sales are in the UK.

Cheers

Chris

Hey Chris that is a totally different engine to what I held a few months ago

You've done such a nice job with that one mate! The chimney will age over time/firing

These are such neat engines and you got it for next to nothing Thumbs up!
