With the recent mention of a Model 410 and also of a Model 234's current value the original prices of these engines may be of interest, though I expect they have been stated before.

Model 410   12 shillings and 6 pence
Model 234   30 shillings plus 7 shillings and 6 pence for the tender
Model 300   21 shillings
Model 265   25 shillings

For comparison, 12 shillings and 6 pence was 60 times the cost of posting a letter in the UK at that time. Sixty times today's UK 1st Class postal rate is 21.60 Pounds. What happened, is postage cheap or are engines expensive?

The geared single cylinder Model 410 is by Bowman standards a bit on the flimsy side. The wheels, which are of lead or maybe a soft whitemetal, are pressed on to the axles  and  prone to coming loose. I have had three 410s and each needed the wheels to be secured. As  mentioned a couple of days ago, the pinion gear is screwed on the shaft, with a right hand thread, so don't try and pull it off.

Good to ge additional info on the bowman 410.

Maybe mine has had the wheels repaired as everything is solid.

Original prices seem in line as far as a ratio to more complicated models.  Would think the 410 has a lesser value than the others.

Any idea as to value of a 410 in very good condition?
Regards Al
