My Mamod SE3 arrived today! I fired it using Esbit then proceeded to clean and polish. The SE3 is bigger than I expected and runs like there is no tomorrow. I am quite pleased. I have a Meths burner coming in a month or less as it has to make the trip across the pond.

And of course, the Mamod trifecta!

The SE3 was the last on my short list of MUST HAVES, so from here on out it will be bargains or real interesting engines that I happen to get.
I do have two more engines that will be added soon as they are paid for, one is in the mails and another is still being built and soon to be mailed.
It was nice getting an engine on my Birthday.
Now excuse me while I fire it up one more time before I prepare my evening meal.

Not to mention the SE3 came with a real nice original Box, yes I have another box to store, but it is nice to have a boxed engine.

I cant wait for my Titanic Pop Pop ( any day now )  , my Bowman ( posted and on ot s way from the UK ) , and a little engine from the UK ( either still being assembled or in transit, dont know which ) , all of which should be arriving in the next month or less.

Nice John. Very nice.

Is that the one that was going to be expensive post??

I assumed being solid fuel fired it could have a sightglass. It's a bonus that it hasn't.

Well done

Yes it is the one that could have been an expensive post. He ended up charging $15, not the cheapest but not outrageous.

I do not know if he packed it or had it packed, but the Engine was in the Original box, with all of the loose pieces bundled separate, that box was boxed and That box was boxed, sorry Roger, but someone actually outpacked you!

This had to be the best packaged engine I ever saw. He left me good feedback, and I left him good too, but sent him an email explaining that it would be a lot easier next time if he determines the shipping before he lists something.

I am very happy with this one, it is, as James would put it, Girthy.

Seconded.

Very clean looking piece.  Beautiful.

You have sun in Indiana

Unfortunately, just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water..... I have just learned that Phil is making the beam engine again.

Nooooooo, I just ordered the Jenny Wren.  I bet the beam will cost more, right?

I think that the Jenny wren is great for the "Hey look at the tiny Engine" thrill.

I plan on finding a piece of hardwood and a piece of brass, then fasten the brass to the hardwood and use that instead of Marble or Granite. However I bet it will be the end of June before the Postal carrier delivers the Jenny Wren.

John, it might come faster than you think...I won my Lilliput from Phil via eBay and had the engine in hand in under a week.  He sent mine very well packed inside a plastic jar suspended in peanuts in a box...it could have survived a 3 story drop.

Hey, I got a box earlier this week that was packed better than I do!
I believe it was done by a UPS store, engine well wrapped in bubble wrap, inside a large box full of noodles inside an even larger box with noodles supporting the inner box.  I suggested all that to the seller and even offered to pay more than his $20 shipping charge, but he wouldn't take more and really outdid himself.

I kept that box and noodles in case I ever need a nuclear proof package!!!

Mine took nearly five weeks from when he shipped it. But this is the Caribbean, Rog's estimate is probably more accurate for you.  Having won it on E Bay, however, his was probably already assembled.

I know he has quite a few orders in at the moment.

He's right about the packaging. I think Phil thought mine would be hit with an IED and packed accordingly.

I have been told that the beam engine is 200 pounds.  Don't know if he might do a discount for long term forum members or previous customers.

Boy, it's a bitch paying for everything in Dollars these days.

That is a very clean    looking SE3 which will keep you happy for hours and it does sit quite nicely with the SE1 & 2.

It just doesnt stop, another arrival and my second Bowman!!!!!
Yellow Jr did a really good job of packing and it arrived very quickly. It was well oiled, but it was no problem wiping the oil off, Mr O would be proud of Yellow Jr
This one is a M158 and it is smaller than my M135. Yellow Jr was selling it with a wooden box, but I had decided that since it wasnt the original box that it would be foolish to ship the box so I asked him to keep it, however, I do have an original M158 box that will be here before too long, it is still in the UK.
So much for the talk, here are the pictures

The burner isnt original, but looks like it will be fully functional, maybe some day I will be able to either find an original burner or make a reasonable facsimile but till then I am more than satisfied with the one that came with this engine.

and now for the family photo, a picture that I never thought taht I would ever be able to take, My TWO Bowmans!

I do believe that I need to get an Ogee router bit and some Oak to make these display similarly. Needless to say, I am very excited about the new addition to the Water Closet of Steam
