has anyone got a picture of the pps de-winton without the wooden planking as Im quite taken with this loco but would like to see a pic of it without the planking as Im not sure if Ill still like it.

Doesn't it come with the cladding attached?

Surely if not it wouldnt be to difficult to cut the wood for it and glue it on.

no it no longer has the cladding attached.

seems a bit stupid without it I imagine it looks like a black paint tin on wheels.

A De-Winton didn't usually have wooden cladding on it

Does the cladding come supplied ready to fit?

It'd be easy enough to lag the boiler yourself though. I think the loco is quite overpriced for what it is though - much better off with an Accucraft or a PPS Janet if you ask me.

Didn't you just buy a Roundhouse Millie, yer not already buying more steam locos are you? :O

The PPS ones probably didn't have the lagging for too long either, especially after it derails and the meths spills and ignites allover!

Here's Chaloner, a full size De Winton with no cladding - http://www.strps.org.uk/str/stocklist/visitinglocos2002.htm (scroll down to No.2)

The PPS De Winton actually uses a lot of components from the PPS Janet. As such the 32mm version should be capable of re-gauging with new wheels, and just using more gaskets to move the cylinders out, just like the 45mm old style Mamod did.

Last De Winton on ebay, a cladded 32mm PPS one,  went for £281.76, and I was just outbid.
