How was the little fellah when you returned them to the tree? Did they fly away straight away?
Once had a swift nesting in the apex of the roof under the fascias. The fascias had been replaced and at the top of the wall a brick was missing and the birds had nested inside. The builders had concreted up with the other parent bird inside.
Later in the day we say the other bird flying to and fro from the nest, clearly in some kind of distress. He was actually removing beak fulls of mortar to rescue his partner! When I saw this I went into the loft and found the little female swift in there, behind a piece of wood at the top of the wall - the poor little thing fitted into the palm of my hand. I took it outside and the two flew off together.
Without the other birds efforts the poor little bird would have died in there.
It's a nice feeling when you manage to help an animal in distress. |

in the corner of the roof of the house opposite my garden (weird street layout) which overlooks the garden a pair of swallows nest in it every year and almost every year 1 of their chicks ends up flapping around our garden unable to fly this year the dogs found it and brought it into the house luckily they didnt hurt it and we took it outside and the parents were sitting on the roof corner so we put it on the garage roof and the parents came down picked it up (it was a tiny thing) and took it back to the nest
this happens every year _________________ knowledge is power

There's 6 or 7 swallow nests in the stables and sheds, the nests are full of little eggs ATM _________________ Forum Founder, Owner and Admin.

I wish we had a better picture, but we have a nesting pair of Orioles (sp?) on our property (2 1/2 acres of woods) They are not usually this far north. Awsome. Bright orange and black.
We DO however have a nesting pair of robins in the plant on the deck! 2 very pretty bright blue eggs in the nest. We tried to get them to move while they were building the nest. Took it out of the plant twice! They started building again for a third time, so I moved the whole plant. Nope... they found it, completed the nest, and a couple of days ago, laid the eggs!!!
OK. I just wnt outside to take a few pics of the nest. Well now there are 3 bright blue eggs!!!
And a really pissed of papa bird... Ahh.. life in the country. Some pics for you all!!
This is the deck off the kitchen, it is on the second story.
The nest w/eggs....
And here is Papa yelling at me!!
There is something to living in he woods. Oak anyone? _________________ Keep Creativity Alive! |

Robin Egg Blue they are.
I had a Golden eagle nesting in a tree on my property, but the tree blew over this afternoon. I am sure it will nest nearby though. _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |

we have a friend who had a hanging plant basket and 1 day a little hole appeared in it when they looked in they saw a bird had pecked a little hole in the basket then pecked through the liner then evacuated some soil so their was a little cave and then nested in there. _________________ knowledge is power
