just thought id give an update on my edrig.
he has had plenty of runs now, so much that the valve timing needed to be re-timed.
he is now in bits and will be seen in another configeration. the gas tank has been moved back, the gas valve will be re-positioned and new body work will be made (hopefully by alan) and fitted soon.
i will update when he is complete. _________________ Any man who says he's brave is either a bloody idiot or a liar - Fred Dibnah

well, after not havg posted on this topic for a while, i thought i would update.
edrig is awaiting a coal fired boiler, i just need to purchase the materials and send them away, and should take 8 weeks or so to be made.
in preperation for this, i am making new body work which will be in the form of a bagnall saddle tank, similar to our loco at the museum, leonard:
i have made mock up body work from cerial packets to see what it would look like. i only have to make one change, which was cutting the tank down in length by 1/2" so the cab sides where long enough.
here are the pics, apart from needing a taller chimney, what do you think?
i have on order from djb, a new coal edrig smokebox, whistle and auto drain cocks.
these will be fitted when the boiler arrives, which i hope to order the material for tonite or tomorrow.
i am also going to cut away the running plate in the middle. i will cut it at an angle at the front by the smokebox like in the top picture, and cut it again just infront of the cab sides so there will be no plate under the tank so the motion can be seen better aswel.
i will update as progress is made. _________________ Any man who says he's brave is either a bloody idiot or a liar - Fred Dibnah

Cool, I want the DJB whistle for my Edrig too and when time and money permits do something with the bodywork as I think it could look a lot better than just the standard bodywork.
I'm looking forward to your next update to give me ideas of what I can do to mine. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm

Does the saddle tank heat differently than the side tank? _________________ Non Impedite Raditioni Cogitationis |
