I should add, that MM2 that I recently won. Remember that one that you considered?

Well it's a little late to get fired up, but you will be real glad you didn't win it.

It has one small discolouration
That is the least of my probs. But I'll leave the rant for another time

A long rant cut short. Repainted poorly.

But the worst is the brass burner. Full of holes, and quite stuffed. Oh, and it's painted too. Black. Even painted the wadding and what's left of the mesh

It will possibly be repainted properly and sold on

It's a disgrace mate, they think they can get away with anything.

Have you complained to the seller?

Yeah I'm going to.

I never asked if it was repainted as the decal was on it, and partly deteriorated. Underneath base has been reapainted too

So I won't complain about that. But as the burner was a little strange looking, I asked about corrosion

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISA...em=270049670077&rd=1&rd=1

They said The burner has some corrosion to the handle end

That's true, handle is about to fall off. Not to mention one side is pushed in, and there are holes all along the side of it from corrosion

Its possible to think from the pic the burner is covered in soot - not paint!!

Indeed Mike, and that's what I truly thought. I only asked about corrosion as I wasn't sure if it was a brass/chrome burner, or just brass. I haven't taken paint off yet, so still don't know

MM, I put pics up. Only thin that's salvagable is maybe one end cap (I can't remember), the wooden handle, and handle shaft.

I'm more than dissapointed with it

Here's an experiment, if you fancy.

Take a zinc block and fully submerge in slightly acidic water, along with the boiler. Due to being so much lower on the electrolitic scale than copper, zinc should migrate and bond to the copper. Might solve the leaks.

Alternatively use for spares as TSC has said.

Brilliant idea! I guess it will bond, but will it actually amalgamate?

Anyone here know chemistry?
