Based on the picture that Frank posted above, I've made this:

The pieces are silver soldered together for strength, then the whole SV/throttle is soft soldered to the top of theboiler.

I have tried to steam it with several different burners but I can't get enough steam pressure. I think I will have to fit a tube right through the boiler from top to bottom, as on a Burnac. That will improve air flow to/from the burner and give a much bigger heating surface. It should be easy enough to solder in a piece of ordinary copper plumbing pipe, and it won't alter the appearance of the boiler. When I've done that I'll need to experiment with burner configurations to get the best results.

Those engines do take alot of pressure to run. I could never get my Indx to run via fire. So I made it electric like it supposed to be.

I think the firetube will help out alot for generating enough steam.

I have now fitted a vertical tube through the boiler in an attempt to improve steaming. I used ordinary 15mm copper plumbing pipe which I annealed, belled out at the bottom end and soldered in:

It's no exaggeration to say that the addition of the firetube/flue has transformed the performance of the boiler. I'll need to make a burner to suit this boiler, but I tried it by using a Bowman style burner and for the first time this engine ran under its own steam!

Wow Steve, you're doing a amazing job here! I think most of us would have classified this engine as "beyond repair", but you're brinning it back from the dead.
