This is a model I've built of a Foden 1920s steam lorry from a model plan published in Meccano Magazine March 1971. It uses the Meccano steam engine of that era. As most folk know, this engine was manufactured by Mamod with a Meccano transfer applied to the fire box.
The model is built in 1964/65 Silver/Yellow/Black Meccano parts other than a few of the narrow strips. The cab door hinges allowing access to the level plug and the front grille is also hinged allowing the burner to be removed. The smokestack has to be removed to get at the safety valve for filling the boiler.
The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via chain drives and reduction gearing both in the engine assembly and under the chassis. Steering is via a worm and pinion to a chain wrapped around the front axle.
