Lest we forget……
On the 11th Hour of the 11th day of 1918 the guns fell silent in the First World War. This day is still celebrated in Europe and especially in England as Armistice Day (Poppy Day).
So today at 11 o’clock on the11th day of the 11th month Steamy went to the ceremony at the Cenotaph in London, to pay his respects to the many brave solders and civilians that have given there lives in that great war and other wars since.

Then Steamy and me spent the rest of the day at the British Museum

Merhaba! - Hello
Well Steamy just returned from Istanbul in Turkey......Not much in the way of Steam in Old Constantinople, but but it’s Steamys last trip of 2009 so enjoy....
Steamy at the “Hagia Sophia”, built by the Byzantine Christian Emperor Justine 1st ( sorry Fred Justinian the 1st ) in the sixth century, with its Magnificent Giant Basilica.
The world famous “Blue Mosque” This massive Mosque was built opposite the earlier Christian Hagia Sophia, as a supreme demonstration of Ottoman Islamic Architectural capabilities. In the end its dome ended up being smaller than the christian built Haga dome (it seems they just weren’t up to it )
No trip to Istanbul would be complete without a visit to the mighty “Bosphorus” cutting the city in half and where the East meets the West.

If the Emperor Justinian heard you calling him Justine you would probably find yourself playing a starring role in the Hippodrome. Caught between two four horse teams moving rapidly in opposite directions

Heh-heh. I called my mother-in-law's house "the Hippodrome" one time... spent the next two nights on the couch. _________________ Wasserstand beachten |

Great pics as always, Steve! Wonderful locations. Was in England for Armistice Day this year, myself.
Guess 'Steamie' won't be visiting Dubai as much now, unless you've been transferred to the Collections Department! _________________ Richard |
