I dismantled my SR1 and have a couple of questions.
Are the rivets original holding the engine frame, or were they bolted??
Also are these the right hub caps??
Next question, is the end cap original??? the later ones were spun, (one piece)
End of interrogation.
The fire box is a bit iffy and the whistle and insert are missing.
Whistle sorted, thanks Glenn, I will make insert.
It's a bit grotty!!
I got into it with the "soldering flux", it took most of the dullness out of it.
Then it got "Wicked" the name not only describes the result, but the price too  , something like $24.00au for that bottle. The only thing I don't like about the polish is, it gets in cracks and dries white.
Does a good job though, and easy.

I do beleive that the end cap is original as my 65 TE1 has the same setup the boiler is bolted to the firebox rather than riveted
The engine frame is riveted on my TE.
It's a good base for a project though i love early rollers

The rivets were original, personally I would have de-soldered the pipes from the engine frame then you could have removed it as one piece instead of removing the brass rivets.
The caps for the wheels are original too, same goes for the end cap.

Very nice I have one in similar condition i have dismantled it and have the boiler engine, frame and smoke box sprayed I'm waiting for a nice day to do the firebox(I unfortunately have no workshop just the kitchen table).Mine has a bolted engine frame and again unfortunately it doesn't have the original 1peice scuttle burner.It's my 3rd SR1 I love em-Si

Cheers for the pointer but I can't see the makers name in the picture  , I presumed it was "wicked", googled and came up with zilch!
I also googled "metal polish" ( ican see that  ) and it was informationoverload time, so can you give me another little clue as to its origin? |

Hey no problem , I just thought you were being a little awkward on purpose and I was amused with that anyways!

I read somewhere that the early burners were part of the scuttle is that correct??? and any reference to a photo would be good. 
When did the throttle lever come on the scene??? mine is "direct drive" no control at all.
I got the whistle off Glenn (xlchainsaw) what a terrific job he does, I can recomend these to all members.

The combined burner scuttle was used to around 63.
The throttle lever came in around 67 with the "1a" veriant, prior to that there was never any throttle control on the SR.
